Georgia Shakespeare announces open auditions for the lead role of "Ralphie" in the live stage production of A CHRISTMAS STORY to run Dec 7-26, 2010, at Georgia Shakespeare on the campus of Oglethorpe University. Four open auditions will be held at various locations around Atlanta in the coming weeks. For the role of Ralphie, Georgia Shakespeare is looking for boys who look between the ages of 10 and 12, but are not over the age of 13.

Open auditions will be held over consecutive weekends in September at the following outlets: The Decatur Book Festival, Decatur; Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta, Downtown; Chocolate Perks, Duluth; and Bloomingdale's at Lenox Square, Buckhead. Audition location details are on the attached document and available online at www.gashakespeare.org. Semi-finals and finals will be held in October. The panel of judges will be made up of local celebrities and Associate Artists and staff members from Georgia Shakespeare.

The Company is looking for boys who are confident and comfortable in front of a crowd and have an interest in acting. There are no experience requirements to audition at any one of the open calls. Contestants in the open call rounds will be asked to tell a joke and a funny story about themselves. Semi-final auditions and final auditions will be by-invitation-only and taken from the pool of actors in all four rounds of open auditions. Full audition details are available on www.gashakespeare.org.

The winner of "The Search for Ralphie" will be cast in the lead role in the live stage play of the perennial favorite: A CHRISTMAS STORY. Fans know the popular movie from its marathons on TV during the holiday season. Ralphie Parker wants just one thing for Christmas, just one thing: An Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model BB Rifle with a Compass in the Stock. But can Ralphie survive the last couple weeks before Christmas and overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacles to his owning the precious Red Ryder BB gun? "You'll shoot your eye out, kid."
