When a young New York banker is sent to the sleepy town of Deadrock, Nevada to foreclose a rundown theatre, his heart and life are turned upside down by a spitfire hometown girl. Polly takes an instant dislike to the city slicker, so Bobby vows - through cunning, razzmatazz, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity - to save the theatre and win Polly's love. This song-and-dance extravaganza features the Gershwin classics, "I've Got Rhythm," "Someone to Watch Over Me," and "Embraceable You," and won the 1992 TONY Award for Best Musical.

How many tap steps does it take to make a fall musical? If you're curious, come find the answer at the upcoming free Stage Tour for Crazy for You at 6:00pm, Oct. 24, at Brenau University's Hosch Theatre in the John S. Burd Center (429 Academy Street, Gainesville). The Gainesville Theatre Alliance is a nationally acclaimed collaboration of the University of North Georgia, Brenau University, theatre professionals and the northeast Georgia community.

Guest director and choreographer Barbara Hartwig will discuss the challenges of production with such classic musical numbers and a few cast members with limited tap experience, while other guest designers will share research images that inspired them in the creation of the two worlds of New York City and the tumbleweed town of Deadrock, NevadA. Hartwig has directed other GTA shows such as Oklahoma! and Guys and Dolls, and choreographed many more such as Mary Poppins and last year's Beauty and the Beast, both of which broke GTA attendance records. Attendees will be treated to one of the iconic musical numbers from the show.

Crazy for You opens on Nov. 7 and runs through Nov. 18. While the Stage Tour is free, ticket prices for the production are $28-30 for adults, $26-28 seniors (65 and up), and $18-20 for students, depending on seat location. Patrons can select and purchase seats on the website, www.gainesvilleTHEATREalliance.org, or by calling the GTA Box Office at 678-717-3624, Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm.
