Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will honor the late Peter M. Abreu with a memorial plaque at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center lobby on Thursday, January 7th at 7:15pm. A major contributor and friend to the Theatre, it was through the May P. and Francis L. Abreu Charitable Trust and The City of Roswell that the Arts Center has recently gone through a complete and ambitious acoustical renovation. By putting up the initial funding, Peter's legacy motivated the City of Roswell to then match that investment, and the plan to upgrade acoustics was put into place. The project was finished in time for GET's upcoming production of Charley's Aunt.

From the Theatre's Co-Founder and Artistic Director Robert Farley: "Peter Abreu was always a champion of Georgia Ensemble Theatre well in advance of its first opening night right up until the day we lost him. His hard work, vision, and generosity through the family's Foundation were extraordinary. I am so honored that we can now honor him permanently in return by unveiling a plaque that will always pay tribute to his good work on our behalf and the City of Roswell. The recently completed acoustical renovation of the Roswell Cultural Arts Center is a miracle of up to the minute technology that will serve and please patrons for years to come. A truly significant civic accomplishment made entirely possible by the Abreu Family Charitable Trust and in partnership with the City of Roswell. Good people working together for a common good. Just the way Peter would have liked it."

The acoustical renovation has included the installation of updated sound panels throughout the performance hall, which radically impact the auditory experience of the spoken word from the stage. A state of the art assisted listening system is also included in the project and will be completed later in 2016. The completed work was coordinated between Georgia Ensemble Theatre, The City of Roswell, and Merck & Hill Consultants, Inc.

The unveiling of the plaque will be held at a reception prior to opening night of the comedy Charley's Aunt, a production which is generously sponsored by the Robert W. Hagan Family Foundation. Dignitaries and supporters are invited to be on hand. There is no charge to attend the unveiling, and all are welcome. RSVPs are requested at 770-641-1260. Those wishing to attend the ceremony are invited to also attend the show, with tickets available for $26 and $29 by going online to www.get.org or calling 770-641-1260.
