Center for Puppetry Arts Presents THE TORTOISE, THE HAIR AND OTHER AESOP'S FABLES, 8/2-9/9

By:

This summer, Center for Puppetry Arts presents a very special production for Atlanta's younger audience members and their parents. Five timeless tales of fun and friendship hit the stage in a fresh and invigorating new format specifically developed to engage and educate children ages two through six. This 'Theater for the Very Young' production takes audiences on a playful carnival ride with a bandwagon of animal friends that will have little ones bouncing, clapping, and singing along. The show features some of Aesop's most famous fables including the Lion and the Mouse, the Country Mouse and City Mouse, the Fox and the Crane, the Ant and the Grasshopper, and the Tortoise and the Hare.

Directed and adapted for the stage by Michael Haverty, the world premiere of The Tortoise, The Hare, and Other Aesop's Fables features puppets designed by Jason von Hinezmeyer, the Center's Resident Puppet Designer and Builder. Designed to appeal to the unique developmental process of preschoolers, the production employs lively music composed by Dolph Amick, bright colors, and minimal dialogue. The visually playful performance is brought to life using puppetry and circus skills by performers Allison Murphy and Amy Strickland.

The Tortoise, The Hare, and Other Aesop's Fables is presented in the Downstairs Theater, August 2 -September 9. Show times are as follows:
