Guest conductor Jun Märkl will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring ASO Principal Bassoon Carl Nitchie at center stage for Mozart's Bassoon Concerto in B-Flat Major. Also on the program is Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, "Pastorale," and Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin. The performances will take place March 14-16, 2013, at 8:00 p.m., in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Of the Mozart Bassoon Concerto, Mr. Nitchie has said, "I am so glad to be able to bring the Mozart Bassoon Concerto to our Atlanta Symphony audience. Although not quite as well known as Mozart's concerto for clarinet, it is a beautifully crafted work for one of the lesser known instruments of the orchestra." The 2012-13 season marks Mr. Nitchie's 42nd season with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

These performances will mark Mr. Märkl's fourth appearance with the Orchestra. He most recently conducted the Atlanta Symphony in November 2010.
