Playwright Neeley Gossett (Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition finalist) and Actor/Playwright Steve Coulter (Edward Foote) have teamed up with ALLIANCE THEATRE Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families Rosemary Newcott to develop this year's new play for middle school audiences - Alice Between. Alice Between will tour to Atlanta area middle schools for several weeks and will have five public performances in the Rich Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center, November 12 - 19, 2017. The opening performance is Saturday, November 12, at 5:00 p.m.

In the beloved children's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Alice finds herself in a world full of strange and wondrous incongruities ...much like what the world is like for most middle school students! This modern take on the story finds Alice on her first day as a 7th grader in a new middle school. Gossett and Coulter are able to tap into a dark humor that is especially satisfying and very connected to the nightmare and folly that is both Wonderland and Middle School.

Alice Between features a talented local cast including - Ashley Anderson as Alice, Lauren Boyd as Tory, Anthony Campbell as Hatter, Joseph Pendergrast as Cheshire, and Michelle Pokopac as Caty. The creative team includes Set Designer Seamus M. Bourne, Costume Designer Jeff Cone, and Sound Designer/Composer Ed Thrower.

Performances are available for school groups and home-school groups November 14-17, 2017, at 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Most appropriate for grades 4-8, and connecting to Curriculum Standards: ELAGSE6RL3, ELAGSE6RL7, ELABSE7RL3, ELAGSE7RL7, ELAGSE8RL3, ELAGSE8RL7.
