Actor's Express Offers 'An Evening with the Edies' Grey Gardens Screening Sept. 13
A must for Greg Gardens fanatics and those who want to learn more about the women who inspired the hit Broadway musical currently on stage at Actor's Express, An Evening With the Edies will showcase items GG logo with titleof Grey Gardens MemoraBEALEia and feature a screening of the original documentary.
Rare and authentic artifacts from the largest private collection of Grey Gardens memorabilia will be on display compliments of Julia and Beau Kelley, the creators of greygardensonline.com. The Kelleys will share their interest in the Beales and provide background on items in the exhibit, including Big Edie's piano bench, Little Edie's swimsuit from the film, correspondence to Little Edie from Jackie Onassis, and many other other artifacts.
Actor's ExprPiano Benchess was granted special permission from film director Albert Maysles to screen the original Grey Gardens documentary as part of the event. The film depicts the everyday lives of the two Edith Beales, a reclusive socialite mother and daughter who lived at Grey Gardens, a decrepit mansion in East Hampton, New York. The movie was released in 1976 to wide critical acclaim, developed a cult following and inspired the hit Broadway musical as well as the 2009 Emmy-nominated HBO film starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange. Actor's Express is proud to present the Atlanta premiere of the Broadway musical through October 10.
