Lea Salonga and Alfie Boe to Join SPOTLIGHT: SOUTH AFRICA Combining Theater and Safari

Tony and Olivier Award-winner Lea Salonga and British tenor and musical theater star Alfie Boe will head into the South African wilderness August 7 through August 11, 2027 for Spotlight: South Africa, a new five-day experience combining world-class musical theater with a luxury African safari. Attendance is deliberately limited. Priority registration is now open at SpotlightRetreats.com, with pre-sale booking opening on 7 October 2026 at 9 AM ET, ahead of general booking on 9 October 2026 at 9 AM ET.

Spotlight is a new international series of destination experiences created by a team with a long history of producing exclusive destination retreats and live events around the world. It brings together some of the world's greatest musical theater performers with some of the world's most remarkable destinations.

Created for a select group of guests with a shared love of musical theater, every Spotlight journey is immersive and entirely unique to its setting, guided by a simple philosophy: “go beyond the stage and into the extraordinary.” Attendance is deliberately limited, preserving the exclusive nature of the experience and allowing each Spotlight journey to remain personal and unlike a traditional theater event.

Over five days, guests will experience the best of safari and musical theater woven together into one remarkable journey, with the luxurious Kapama River Lodge becoming home to the Spotlight community. By day, guests will venture into Kapama's Big Five territory in search of lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. By night, the focus turns to music, storytelling and performance, with Salonga and Boe taking to the stage against the extraordinary backdrop of the African wilderness.

The carefully curated programme will include private safari drives, guided bush walks, sundowners in the reserve, gourmet dining and candlelit dinners beneath the stars, alongside one-of-a-kind performances and special 'In Conversation' sessions with Broadway royalty, Salonga and Boe, as they pull back the curtain on their storied careers. Throughout the journey, there will also be personal time to relax, reflect and enjoy moments that could only happen in a place like this.
