iStar Theatre Lab Now Accepting Open Submissions for Fall 2013 Lab

Following the success of their 2012 inaugural season, the iStar Theatre Lab is pleased to announce that they are now accepting submissions for the 2013 iStar Theatre Lab, which will take place in New York City in the fall of 2013. Under the supervision of Tony Spinosa, Producing Artistic Director, and Managing Director Laura Bultman, the three-week Lab (October 7th - 27th) is the centerpiece of the Theatre Lab's year-round work which is to provide a safe environment for the development of contemporary plays and musicals by engaging writers to incubate new works and ideas that engage and challenge diverse audiences.

"We're thrilled to return this year for a second Fall season. " says iStar artistic director Tony Spinosa., "Last season's drama VEILS by Tom Coash and musical GAY BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN by Dane Leeman and Billy Butler are both enjoying success in the next stage of development with eyes set on major regional and commercial runs." The 2013 Fall season will come on the heels of iStar's Spring workshop of THE George Hamilton PROJECT, co-written by and starring Hollywood icon George Hamilton which will take place in May of 2013.

Projects for the Fall 2013 lab will be selected through an open submission process. Applicants interested in having their works reviewed for consideration are asked to visit www.istartheatrelab.org and complete the Online Application. Addirtionall, the iStar Theatre Lab is also accepting submissions from Equity and non-Equity actors interested in participating in the Fall 2013 lab. The iStar Theatre Lab will take place in New York City from October 7th to October 27th.
Application deadline is August 7th, 2013.

Applicants will be notified on or after September 7th, 2013.
The iStar Theatre Lab is a three-week workshop designed to provide mentorship and guidance in a risk-free environment for emerging or established artists who wish to develop and nurture their work. Participating writers benefit from a day-on day-off rehearsal structure which will allow the incubation and exploration of his or her work without the pressure of producing new pages every day. After three weeks of intensive collaboration, each project is presented to the iStar Theatre Lab community in a closed session. The presentation is followed by a feedback session led by the iStar Theatre Lab's Producing Artistic Director and creative team.
