The York Theatre Company, as part of its Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series, presents A Conversation with Sheldon Harnick, a one-night only special event on Monday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

James Morgan, York Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director, joins legendary Broadway lyricist/librettist Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me, Fiorello, The Apple Tree) on stage at The York Theatre for a one-on-one conversation about this Pulitzer and Tony award winning writer's illustrious and extensive career.

"This promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity full of history, laughter, and insider tales from the Golden Age of Musical Theatre," says Morgan. "I am thrilled to continue our Musical Conversations Series with Sheldon Harnick, who has become a good friend of mine and of the York's."

Tickets are priced at $25.00 (free for York members) and may be purchased online at www.yorktheatre.org, by calling (212) 935-5820, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue), Monday through Friday (12-6 PM).

The 2013-2014 season York Theatre season continues with the world premiere of a new musical, Inventing Mary Martin, conceived, written and directed by Stephen Cole, with music arrangement by David Krane and choreography by Bob Richard. Performances are set to begin Tuesday, April 15 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 18 at York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's. Casting will be announced shortly.

The York Theatre Company is the only theater in New York City-and one of very few in the world-dedicated to developing and fully producing new musicals and preserving neglected, notable shows from the past. For over four decades, York's intimate, imaginative style of producing both original and neglected classic musicals has resulted in critical acclaim and recognition from artists and audiences alike. Under the guidance of Producing Artistic Director James Morgan since 1997, the York has focused exclusively on new musicals in its Mainstage Series-most of them world, American, or New York premieres-by some of the field's most esteemed creators, and has also helped launch the careers of many talented new writers. Over 35 cast recordings from The York Theatre Company productions are now available on CD, and commercial transfers of such York premieres as The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!), Souvenir, Jolson & Company, and its acclaimed revivals of Closer Than Ever, Sweeney Todd and Pacific Overtures have all showcased the importance of the York and its programs.
