White Light Festival 2011 will present the U.S. premiere of Duality of Light, an immersive, responsive sound-and-light installation created by acclaimed Australian artist Lynette Wallworth. Admission to the installation is FREE and it is open to the public from 12pm-8pm daily, October 31 through November 13 in the Morgan Stanley Lobby, Alice Tully Hall.

Lynette Wallworth last mesmerized New Yorkers when she contributed her interactive video installations Hold Vessel 1 & 2 and Invisible by Night to the Mostly Mozart Festival in 2008. Duality of Light continues her groundbreaking use of technology by creating an environment intended to be discovered by one person at a time. As visitors enter this FREE installation, they move down a long, darkened corridor. The visitors' movement down this sound-enhanced sound passage triggers the sound of trickling water and a series of progressively expansive soundscapes. Cutting=edge technology that spans video, photography and film ensures that each and every interaction with the installation results in a unique and specific experience for the individual. The installation was inspired by Lynette Wallworth's visit to the Preah Khan temple at Kompong Svay in Cambodia.

In many of Lynette Wallworth's works, visitors activate spaces to bring her environments to life. She is deeply involved with the human relationship to universal themes and how technology can alter perceptions of reality. Duality of Light completes a trilogy of work by Lynette Wallworth, including Invisible by Night (2004) and Evolution of Fearlessness (2006).
