New Jewish Theatre has released first look footage of PRAYER FOR THE FRENCH REPUBLIC, Joshua Harmon's Drama Desk Award-winning play now playing through May 3, 2026 at the Wool Studio Theatre at the St. Louis Jewish Community Center.
Directed by NJT Artistic Director Rebekah Scallet, the play spans generations of a Jewish family in France, moving between a Jewish couple in 1944 Paris awaiting news of their missing family and their great-grandchildren more than 70 years later, still grappling with the same question: are we safe? The New York Times called it "thought-provoking, heart-wrenching and wickedly funny."
The cast features Bryce A. Miller as Daniel Benhamou, Kathleen Sitzer as Irma, Dave Cooperstein as Charles, Jenni Ryan as Marcelle, Hailey Medrano as Elodie, Lilah Kreis as Molly, Adam Flores as Lucien, Bob Harvey as Pierre, Ben Hammock as Young Pierre, Bill Stine as Adolphe, and John Wilson as Patrick.
The creative team includes David Blake (scenic design), Michele Friedman Siler (costumes), Heather Reynolds (lighting), and Mary Robinson (sound design and composition).
PRAYER FOR THE FRENCH REPUBLIC runs 3 hours including 2 intermissions. For tickets, contact the J Box Office at 314-442-3283. Box office hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon in person, and Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by phone.
