Vampire Cowboys' 'Living Dead in Denmark' Plays June 12-15

Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company is presenting the return of its five-time 2006 New York Innovative Theatre Award-nominated production, Living Dead in Denmark, at the first National Asian American Theater Festival (NAATF) running from June 11-24. The show, written by Qui Nguyen (Trial by Water, Bike Wreck), will play four performances only from June 12 through 15 (Tuesday thru Friday at 8:00 p.m.) at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues.) Robert Ross Parker (Hope and Hell Theater's Hamlet) directs, with fight direction by Marius Hanford (Lady Cavaliers' The Sea Serpent and the Samurai's Daughter).

Press notes describe Living Dead in Denmark as "an action-adventure/horror sequel to William Shakespeare's Hamlet.  Set five years after the events of the original, the undead have risen to power and are trying to take over the world, led by the zombie lord and true king of Denmark.  Fortinbras, assembling a formidable opposition, has resurrected the corpses of some of the greatest women that Shakespeare had to offer: Lady Macbeth, Juliet and a very angry Ophelia.  A clash of the undead titans ensues!"

The cast for Denmark includes Carlo Alban, Alexis Black, Jason Liebman, Maggie Macdonald, Tom Myers, Melissa Paladino, Jason Schumacher, Andrea Marie Smith, Temar Underwood, and Amy Kim Waschke. The creative team includes scenic/lighting design by Nick Francone, costume design by Jessica Wegener, Zombie Masks/Blood & Gore Effects by Chuck Varga/GWAR, Puppet Design/Construction by David Valentine, and music by Dan Deming.
