Tony Winner Jack O'Brien Visits Ten Chimneys for Q&A Tonight

Tonight, June 21st, Ten Chimneys Foundation will welcome renowned Broadway director Mr. Jack O'Brien for a very special Conversation at Ten Chimneys. Mr. O'Brien will delight the audience with stories about his prolific life in the theatre. Mr. O'Brien's work can be seen in The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing, which runs June 3rd through July 6th in Central Park. Just announced, he will be directing Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in a new version of Terrence McNally's It's Only A Play, opening on Broadway in September, 2014.

Mr. O'Brien is a distinguished director, producer, writer and lyricist acclaimed for his numerous credits on Broadway, off-Broadway, and for regional theatre.

He has garnered three Tony Awards for Best Direction (The Coast of Utopia, Henry IV and Hairspray) and five Tony Award nominations (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Invention of Love, The Full Monty, Two Shakespearean Actors, and Porgy and Bess). His Broadway credits also include: Macbeth, The Nance, Dead Accounts, Catch Me If You Can, Impressionism, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Imaginary Friends, More to Love, Getting Away with Murder, Pride's Crossing, The Little Foxes, Hapgood, and Damn Yankees.

From 1981-2007, Mr. O'Brien was the Artistic Director of The Old Globe Theatre and captivated San Diego audiences with over 60 provocative productions, including world premieres, musicals, adaptations and classical works.

His many awards, include: Artserve Michigan 2008 International Achievement Award; 2008 Theatre Hall of Fame Inductee; National Theatre Conference 2007 Person of the Year; 2005 John Houseman Award; 2007 and 2001 Joan Cullman Award for Extraordinary Creativity; 2002 "Mr. Abbott" Award (SDCF); the Drama League's 2001 Julia Hansen Award for Excellence in Directing.

Jack Be Nimble: The Accidental Education of an Unintentional Director, his memoir detailing the early years of his career, was released to wonderful reviews and is widely considered a "must read" for theatre devotees.
