Danielle Brooks is making her Broadway debut in The Color Purple, which also happens to be the first show that she ever saw on Broadway back when she was in high school. Now she has earned a Tony nomination for her performance as Sofia (Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical) and she's getting all of her Tonys advice from a good friend who has done it all already. Brooks is best known for her role as "Tasha 'Taystee' Jefferson" in the Netflix Emmy-nominated series, Orange is the New Black.Brooks and the cast received a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2014 for "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series" and Danielle was the recipient of the Young Hollywood Award for "Breakthrough Actress." The fourth season will premiere in Summer 2016.

The American Theatre Wing's 70th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Tony Award winner James Corden, will air on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 12, 2016 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
