Tongue in Cheek Theater Productions will present Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Our Town, for eight performances this October. The play is a love story between Emily and George, and a love letter to small town life in America.

Jake Lipman, Tongue in Cheek's artistic director and producer, will both direct and play the narrator character of "The Stage Manager." Lipman says she will "highlight the many comedic elements woven throughout the entire script, from the way the children address their parents to the interplay between the characters onstage and the audience. It's as humorous as it is touching and timeless."

Tongue in Cheek's production of Our Town will also feature original music, arrangements and choral direction by Philip Rothman (recent film work includes scoring the silent film Way Down East for the 2011 Syracuse International Film Festival and orchestrations for feature films The Nanny Diaries, Hollywoodland, Too Big to Fail, Taking Chance, Teddy in His Own Words, You Don't Know Jack and Won't Back Down). In addition to collaborating on this production, Rothman and Lipman are husband and wife. In a prior collaboration for Tongue in Cheek, Rothman was nominated for a 2010 New York Innovative Theatre award for Outstanding Sound Design for Proof by David Auburn.

Allison Lemel assistant directs, with lighting and scenic design by Michael Lounsbery. The cast includes Brady Adair, Matthew Bayer, Lynn Berg*, Kathryn Neville Browne*, Stacie Capone, Michael Edmund, A.J. Heekin, Gillian Hurst, Nina Leese, Jake Lipman*, Shelley Little, Joshua Mahaffey, Dolores Emma Olsen, Stephanie Pezolano, Brian Roach, Joan D. Saunders, Brad Widener and Jere Williams.

Tongue in Cheek Theater is an independent theater company dedicated to producing thought-provoking comedy. About the company's production of Adam Bock's play The Drunken City, BlogCritics.org raved, "The Drunken City is fun through and through … Kudos to Ms. Lipman and Tongue in Cheek Theater for making manifest what's funny, and what's sneakily smart."

Our Town will run for eight performances, Wednesday through Saturday for two weeks, October 17-20 and 24-27 at 7:30 pm at Theatre 54 @ Shetler Studios, 244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor, New York City.
