Join New York Theatre Experiment (NYTE) for the kick-off Generations event of the 2011 Half-Life Experiment season! The Generations Project will once again bring together artists and leaders, across generations, for this forum on vision, leadership and mentorship in the arts. Bring a friend, invite a mentor, and join the dialogue, as we continue to discuss the future of our art form and our role in moving it forward. Last year's Generations events were packed to capacity- most recently, in November, we were thrilled to be joined by actor Denis O'Hare, director Michael Mayer, and playwright Annie Baker as panelists.

Throughout this season's Half-Life Experiment, kicking off with this evening's dialogue, we'll explore the way current cultural and technological trends - both in the realm of social media, and elsewhere- are shifting the means of human interaction and the way we express and construct identity. Through our work, we'll open up dialogues that examine how these social and cultural realities are influencing our relationship with the theatre In a perpetually half-engaged word, how can artists and audiences create and experience theatre in a whole minded way?

We are proud to announce this inspiring evening will feature the incredible Kristoffer Diaz (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity) and Alex Timbers (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson), plus a special surprise Tony award-winning guest!

Kristoffer Diaz is a playwright and educator, living and working in Brooklyn, NY. His full-length plays, including The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity (finalist for the 2009 Pulitzer), Welcome to Arroyo's, Rebecca Oaxaca Lays Down a Bunt, f-ing Vigwan, and #therevolution, have been produced and developed at Center Theatre Group, The Goodman, Second Stage, Victory Gardens, Americna Theatre Company, The Atlantic, InterAct, Mixed Blood, The Orchard Project, Hip-Hop Theater Festival, The Lark, Summer Play Festival, Donmar Warehouse, and South Coast Repertory. Kristoffer was one of the creators of Brink!, the apprentice anthology show at the 2009 Humana Festival of New American Plays. He is a playwright-in-residence at Teatro Vista, a recipient of the Jerome Fellowship, the Future Aesthetics Artist Regrant and the Van Lier Fellowship (New Dramatists), and a member of the Ars Nova Play Group. He is one of the co-founders of The Unit Collective (Minneapolis). Kristoffer is currently working on commissions for the Center Theatre Group, The Goodman/Teatro Vista, and Oregon Shakes. Kristoffer holds a BA from new York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, and MFA from NYU's Department of Dramatic Writing, and an MFA from Brooklyn College's Performing Arts Management program.

Alex Timbers is a Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning writer/director. ABOUT NEW YORK THEATRE EXPERIMENT:
New York Theatre Experiment (NYTE), founded in 2004, is dedicated to artistic exploration and innovation. Each season is guided by an "experiment," which shapes and influences the works of theatre we develop and produce, leading to an examination of the current cultural moment.
NYTE proudly serves as a creative home and developmental forum for leaders in the American theatre. We challenge artists to continually explore the creative process and offer a supportive environment for ongoing growth and development. We view each project as an experiment, an opportunity to discover new ways to bring vibrant works of theatre to full and powerful life.
NYTE is also committed to the development of the next generation of theatre artists and audiences. NYTE's unique educational programs are designed to empower and inspire, and like our productions, are intended to make theatre accessible, relevant and personal for all audiences.
