The York Theatre Company will sponsor a special performance of its
musical hit Thrill Me: The Leopold & Loeb Story on Monday, July 25,
at 8 PM benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization. In addition, a number of talkback sessions have been scheduled for the show, which recently extended its run for a third time and now has no closing date specified.First, the York will present a session entitled Relationships Can Be Murder after the 5 PM performance on Saturday, July 23rd. Author, professor,
cultural theorist/critic Laura Kipnis (the books Against
Love: A Polemic, Bound and Gagged: Pornography and the Politics of
Fantasy in America) "will discuss the media's fascination with
toxic relationships and how our desire for fidelity can be at odds with
personal freedoms," states a press article. Following the 8 PM performance on Thursday, July 28th, nationally-known
author--and Leopold and Loeb expert--Hal Higdon (Leopold & Loeb: The Crime of the Century) will present a talkback
session entitled after his book. "Higdon will discuss not
merely the Leopold and Loeb case, but its relevance today, and whether
we may have already witnessed the crime of the 21st century with 9/11."Thrill Me is playing at the York Theatre (at Saint Peter's Citigroup Center, 619 Lexington
Avenue at 54th Street). Directed by Michael Rupert (Sweet Charity, Falsettos)
and based
on the infamous 1924 Leopold and Loeb murder case, the show originally
opened on May 26th for a limited run. Lyricist/composer Dolginoff, who
began
his career as a musical theater actor, has taken over the role of
Nathan
Leopold for the extension period, while Doug Kreeger portrays his
partner in
crime, Richard Loeb.
Set in 1924 Chicago, the show recounts
the tale of the legendary duo who committed one of the most infamous
heinous crimes of the 20th Century. It chronicles
the events that led childhood friends Leopold and Loeb
to forever be remembered as "the thrill killers."

Thrill
Me: The Leopold & Loeb Story
will run on the following schedule from July 18th: Monday, Thursday and
Friday evenings at 8:00 pm, with Saturday evening performances at 5:00
