Producer Scott Rudin announced today that Lincoln Center Theater has joined the upcoming Broadway production of Tennessee Williams's most cherished play, The Glass Menagerie, starring two-time Academy Award® winner Sally Field and two-time Tony Award® winner Joe Mantello. As previously announced, Tony Award® winner Sam Gold will direct the production, which will also star Finn Wittrock and newcomer Madison Ferris, making her Broadway debut in the role of Laura Wingfield.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE will begin performances at Broadway's Golden Theatre on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, with an official opening night of Thursday, March 9, 2017 (ahead of the previously announced first performance and opening night dates of February 14 and March 23, 2017, respectively). Scott Rudin and Lincoln Center Theater most recently partnered on last season's Tony Award®-winning Best Revival of Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge.

Mr. Gold first directed this production of The Glass Menagerie with an entirely Dutch cast at Toneelgroep Amsterdam (Ivo van Hove, Artistic Director) in an engagement that garnered rave reviews and massive international attention.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE is the play that brought a brilliant young writer named Tennessee Williams to national attention, and, in his own words, "changed my life irrevocably" when it first premiered on Broadway in 1945. More than seventy years later, Williams's most personal work for the stage continues to captivate and overwhelm audiences around the world.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE will feature the entire design team from the Toneelgroep Amsterdam production, including Andrew Lieberman (Scenic Design), Wojciech Dziedzic (Costume Design), Adam Silverman (Lighting Design), and Bray Poor (Sound Design).

Lincoln Center Theater, under the direction of André Bishop, produces plays and musicals at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont, Mitzi E. Newhouse, and Claire Tow Theaters, as well as on Broadway, nationally, and internationally. Recent productions include the award winning Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I, The Coast of Utopia, Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, War Horse, Other Desert Cities, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Act One, and Disgraced. This fall, LCT is producing the new Broadway production of the William Finn-James Lapine musical Falsettos at the Walter Kerr Theater; Richard Greenberg's new play The BABYLON Line, directed by Terry Kinney, at the Mitzi E Newhouse Theater; and the LCT3 production of Samuel Hunter's The Harvest, directed by Davis McCallum, at the Claire Tow Theater. In the spring, LCT's critically acclaimed production of J.T. Rogers new play, OSLO, directed by Bartlett Sher, will reopen for an extended run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences.
