The Spirit of Broadway theater ended its 11th season this Saturday by presenting its 8th annual Spirit Awards during a black tie gala at the Spa at Norwich Inn. The awards winners are determined by subscriber votes. Joe DiPietro served as the Guest Master of Ceremonies.

The gala honors those who have made a significant difference in supporting the theater on and off the stage.

* Rebecca Barko, outstanding leading actress in a musical, for her portrayal of Laura in "The Enchanted Cottage."
* Hayley Pearl Overturf, outstanding supporting actress in a musical, for playing Jinny in "The Klemperers' New Clothes."
* Kevin Wood, outstanding leading actor in a music, for playing Gideon in "The Last Session."
* Derek Corriveau, outstanding supporting actor in a musical, for portraying Hillgrove in "The Enchanted Cottage."
* Jon Peterson, outstanding cameo appearance in a musical in "The Enchanted Cottage."
* "Glimmerglass" for outstanding ensemble performance.
* Glenn J. Michaud, outstanding lighting design, "Glimmerglass."
* Brett A. Bernardini, outstanding costume design, "Glimmerglass."
* Brett A. Bernardini, outstanding set design, "The Enchanted Cottage."
* Jonathan Bolt, best new book, "Glimmerglass."
* Alison Hubbard, best new lyrics, "The Enchanted Cottage."
* Kim Oler, best new score, "The Enchanted Cottage."
* "Glimmerglass," best new work.
* Brett A Bernardini, best direction, "The Last Session."
* "Glimmerglass," best production of the year.

GLIMMERGLASS is based on James Fenimore Cooper's LEATHERSTOCKING TALES (perhaps the best known book is THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS). Jonathan Bolt wrote the book, Ted Drachman wrote the lyrics, and Douglas J. Cohen wrote the music. It was first developed at Goodspeed at Chester and was selected for the 2000 NAMT Festival. The Spirit of Broadway production was directed by Brett A, Bernardini, artistic director of the theater.
