Actors and dancers and their audiences are big consumers of plastic water bottles and we have decided to do something to help the planet by banning the sale of plastic water bottles.

Artistic Director, Richard Mazda, has long felt uncomfortable at the sale of so much plastic for a product that is essential to human existence. Says Mazda, " After a particularly harrowing NPR program that mentioned that the amount of plastic would overtake the number of fish in about 35 years from now, I decided to take action. We hope to influence other theatres to join us in this campaign and also hope that our audiences and performers will switch to refillable bottles."

From April 1st we will no longer sell bottles of water at our productions. We intend to provide a water cooler in our lobby and free paper cups for those people that are thirsty. Performers will be allowed to fill their refillable water bottles and we intend to provide an information card to give to people who are confused or curious.

Further, we intend to try to ensure that all of our paper goods are biodegradable and pledge to avoid plastic goods wherever possible.

We hope that as people ask us about this policy that it might encourage people to think about their own consumption and maybe change their own habits.

We are looking at a range of other options to see what we can do to help the world we live in.
