'The Piper,' 'Die Hard' & 'Swingin' Add NYMF Performances

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is pleased to announce that it has scheduled additional performances for three more productions.

The Piper has added a show Thursday September 27 at 1PM at Theatre at St. Clements

The Piper, a new musical by Grammy Award-winner Marcus Hummon, directed by Michael Bush. Performances will run September 19 – 29 only.

"The Piper is a musical Victorian melodrama, told in the tradition of Irish pub storytelling. It tells the tale of Jordan, a woman who runs a boarding house for prostitutes in late 19th century Scully Square Boston, and her crippled daughter Wilder, who posses a magical ability to play the penny whistle.  Amidst hookers, thugs, and pubs, they struggle against a corrupt political machine and a mysterious "strangler" who may just have moved into their midst," describe press notes.

Regular performances will be Friday, September 21 at 9PM; Saturday, September 22 at 1PM; Sunday, September 23 at 4:30PM; Thursday, September 27 at 9PM; and Saturday, September 29 at 5PM at The Theater at St. Clements (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues).

Die Hard: The Puppet Musical has added a show Sunday September 30 at 9PM at 45th Street Theatre

With Music & Lyrics by James Walton, Book & Lyrics by John Ardolino.

Armed with a dizzying array of shadow, bunraku and hand puppets, plus a veritable smorgasbord of gripping musical numbers, we bring you the epic tale of New York cop John McClane as he blows stuff up, befriends a local cop with a weakness for snack cakes and kicks some serious terrorist ass to save the puppet he loves. Yippee-ki-yay, Motherf***er!

Going Down Swingin' has added a show Friday October 5 at 11PM at TBG Theater

In Going Down Swingin', a caddish crooner Dean Newhouse struggles to keep his radio variety show alive against a dangerous new foe: Television. With Book and Lyrics by Matt Boresi; Music by Peter Hilliard. It's 1956, and cad crooner Dean Newhouse's once-successful radio variety show is facing a dangerous new foe: Television. As Dean struggles to keep his show afloat, his bitter and double-crossed cast plots his come-uppance, in this sexy and swingin' reinvention of Don Giovanni!

Performances: TBG Theatre  (312 West 36th St., 3rd Floor). Regular Schedule: Sep 24, 8:00 pm; Sep 30, 8:00 pm; Oct 1, 1:00 pm; Oct 2, 4:30 pm; Oct 5, 1:00 pm; Oct 6, 8:00 pm. Tickets $20

These extensions are in addition to the already eleven productions for which NYMF has already announced additional performances.

Now in its fourth year, the 2007 NYMF will present 34 new musicals, including its 100th new musical, Angle of the Sun, which opened the festival on September 17 at the Sage Theatre (711 Seventh Ave.)
