The Palace Professional Theatre Camp Offers Students The Chance To Study With Jimmy Smagula

By:

Students at The Palace Professional Theatre Camp this summer will have the opportunity to study with a star coming directly from Broadway's Little Mermaid, Jimmy Smagula. The Palace Theatre is partnering with Chester College of New England to present an intensive seven-day, overnight theater camp that focuses on the three components of musical theatre - acting, singing and dancing.

Smagula is originally from Lyndhurst, New Jersey and is a graduate of NYU - Tisch School of the Arts. In addition to performing as the chef in Little Mermaid, Smagula has performed on Broadway as well as held roles in motion pictures & television. He appeared in the 2005 Sci-Fi thriller The Island, as well as the movie version of The Producers. Smagula has also had guest roles on Law & Order, The Sopranos, and has appeared on The Rosie O'Donnell Show numerous times.

At the Palace Professional Theatre Camp, Smagula will be teaching an intensive specialty workshop focusing on auditioning. He will also be available to campers for a Q&A session on life as a Broadway actor. "Jimmy Smagula is well-known in the Broadway community for his world class voice and big personality! His ability to network and ace the audition process has landed him roles on Broadway, television and motion pictures. It is an honor to have Jimmy share his knowledge with the Palace students and give them a ‘head start' as they head into college and the professional world" said Andrea McCormick, Artistic Director of the Palace Youth Theatre.

The Palace Professional Theatre Camp runs from August 2nd - August 8th for grades 9-12. At the end of the camp, a musical performance will be presented on the Palace Theatre stage. Students will earn one full college credit in Theatre Studies from Chester College of New England, which is transferable to any college or university.
