The New York Pops Performs THE BEST OF HOLLYWOOD This March at Carnegie Hall The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, performs iconic themes from some of the biggest box office successes of the silver screen in The Best of Hollywood: Blockbuster Film Scores on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The program explores music from the beginnings of Hollywood to today, featuring works by composers like Erich Korngold, Max Steiner, Henry Mancini, Ennio Morricone, John Barry, Elmer Bernstein, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and more.

"Film music has always been one of my favorite things to listen to and conduct. We have a blast with John Williams, but I'm excited to share some of the other all-time film greats with my New York Pops family," said Music Director Steven Reineke. "I'm thrilled by the scope of these great Hollywood scores, from the classical heroes like Erich Korngold and Max Steiner, all the way up through Henry Mancini and Hans Zimmer. My goal with Hollywood concerts is to transport the audience back to the iconic scenes that the underscoring comes from - so get ready for a musical journey that could feature some James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gone with the Wind, Psycho, and Ben Hur."

The New York Pops' 2017-18 season also includes Heart and Soul on Friday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m. featuring James Monroe Iglehart and Capathia Jenkins, and the orchestra's 35th Birthday Gala on Monday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. paying tribute to Alan Menken's contributions to stage and screen.
