The Met invites visitors to step into the minds and creative practices of artists this Friday, September 9, from 5 to 9 p.m., during MetFridays: Artist's Choice at The Met Fifth Avenue.

Activities featured in the Museum-wide event include:

  • Participatory art-making activities inspired by Sol LeWitt's Wall Drawing #370 with multi-disciplinary artist Derrick Adam
  • Creations of digital drawings inspired by objects in the European Paintings galleries with visual storyteller Carla Gannis
  • Unique displays of movement, song, and storytelling to illustrate the works of Divine Pleasures: Painting from India's Rajput Court-The Kronos Collections by classical dancer Rajika Puri
  • Examinations of a selection of books in The Met Libraries' collection from the unique perspective of artist Tauba Auerbach
  • A dialogue with New Zealand-based artist of Tongan (Tu'anekivale) and Scottish (Shetlands) heritage, Benjamin Work, as he describes how the themes and imagery of objects in the Oceanic Art galleries intersect with his own practice
