The Invisible Dog, a new art center in Brooklyn, and Crossing the Line will present 'Electrochroma' by Richard Garet. There will be an opening party Saturday, September 25 from 6 to 10 at 61Local.

ELECTROCHROMA is an audiovisual kinetic work that emerged from the manipulation of light, image, sound, and translations of image to sound. This work was created in a digital environment utilizing various analog and digital techniques and a variety of software processes to maneuver audio and moving image. The work's imagery ranges from dark to light monochromatic spheres, shifting tonality and intensity from mild to high saturation, including flickering and pulsating patterns, RGB phenomena, afterimage, retinal impact, and sensory overloads. The sound composition was arranged for 5.1-surround audio and is comprised of a molded experimentation resulting in tones, overtones, profound bass echoing, modulated frequencies, textures, static noises, and electronic sounds moving through space. The 58'30" audiovisual work will play on the hour throughout the day in a dedicated room built specifically for the piece, and with a mist of fog conditioning the environment for further immersion and experience.

ELECTROCHROMA will appear from September 25 to November 28, Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 7pm, and Tuesday & Wednesday by appointment only. The exhibit is closed on Monday.

Crossing the Line is FIAF's fall festival, conceived as a platform to present vibrant new works by a diverse range of trans-disciplinary artists transforming and furthering cultural practices on both sides of the Atlantic. Initiated, conceived, and produced by FIAF in partnership with leading New York cultural institutions, the fourth annual edition will, for eighteen intensive days, continue to deliver the highest caliber of original work, with a specific focus on the artist's role as a critically important thinker and catalyst for social change. The fourth edition of Crossing the Line is co-curated by Lili Chopra, Artistic Director at FIAF and Simon Dove, Director, Herberger Institute School of Dance at Arizona State University, and runs from September 10 - 27, 2010. A number of the programs will utilize FIAF's own spaces, including Florence Gould Hall, the FIAF Gallery, Tinker Auditorium, and Le Skyroom. Established partners in New York City will also host events, including Anthology Film Archives, Columbia University, Dance Theater Workshop, Dancing in the Streets, Danspace Project, The Invisible Dog Art Center, ISSUE Project Room, Japan Society, The Joyce Theater, Movement Research, and Performance Space 122.

The Invisible Dog opened in October, 2009, a raw space in a vast converted factory building with a charmed history and an open-ended mission: to create, from the ground up, a new kind of interdisciplinary arts center. Over the last year, over 32,000 people have attended our events: visual art exhibits; dance, theater, and music performance; film screenings; literary; arts and poetry; and more...

The Invisible Dog Art Center is located at 51 Bergen Street (between Smith street and Boerum Place) Brooklyn, NY.
