On Monday August 9th at 7pm and 9:15pm at Joe's Pub, Gavin Creel will share the stage with Laura Benanti in an evening of their own music. We checked in with Gavin to get the scoop on what they've got cooking up for the two shows. "My set will be all original songs that I've been writing with Robbie Roth (killer singer/songwriter from the gentle giant to the north – Canada)."

For those that caught Gavin's concerts back in June at Ars Nova, you'll hear a couple of highlights from that show, along with a slew of new material. "It'll be a night of completely new music, so bring your listening ears, and big open hearts. I know that Laura and I are both excited that the community in which we are lucky enough to work is coming out to hear what we do with our heads, when we're not bashing them against our dressing room walls!"

Gavin describes his music as "acoustic pop, with a fun 'n funky edge" and when asked who out there he might compare himself to, he likens it to "a more acoustic-feeling Robbie Williams" or "a dirtier, wilder John-Mayer."

"I'm really looking forward to premiering lots of new songs along with my fabulous band including such smash titles as: MIGHT STILL HAPPEN, THESE FOUR WALLS, and the bitter yet enlightening WESTCOAST. You haven't heard of any of those songs yet, but you will soon!"

Gavin's calling his half of the evening "Countdown to the Garden" as in his way of setting his sights on MadisonSquareGarden as a future performance venue.

After the concerts on the 9th, he'll next be seen in the Hair Actor's Fund Benefit concert, along with some writing, and studio time for his debut album.

And as for his desire to get back to Broadway? "If the right project comes along and they decide to cast me in it, I'm there. I loved my experience with MILLIE and I have really enjoyed getting jobs that keep me a subway ride away from my home, so I hope to get back into a great big hit show soon!

Until then, I think I'll try to get my voice on the little radio."
