The Artful Conspirators, a Brooklyn-based theatre collective, announce the cast of Leaving IKEA: a play in two cantos.

The play, written by Monica Flory and Dano Madden, directed by David A. Miller, will receive its World Premiere June 7 to 24, 2012 at the Brooklyn Lyceum.

The cast includes Jason Carden (Awesome 80’s Prom), Mark Hattan (Our Town, Barrow Street Theatre), Caroline Ryburn (Largely/NY with Bill Irwin) and Marshall York (Radioplay, PS122).  They will be joining company members of The Artful Conspirators John Gardner, Molly Lloyd, Miranda Shields, Lauren Singerman, and Ryan Stinnett.  The cast also includes John Keller, Paul Kite, Katie Koster, and Melanie Rose Wilson.

The Conspirators describe the show as: “A coming out gone wrong, an angry gnome, and two hundred pounds of Swedish meatballs: welcome to IKEA, friends. As two couples venture through their local Swedish superstore, they become trapped in a blue and yellow purgatory; unable to escape until they solve the problems in their ailing relationships.”

Other members of the creative team include scenic designer Jen Varbalow, sound designer Alex Hawthorn, lighting designer Kate Ashton, costume designer Erin Murphy and production stage manager Barbara Dente.

The Artful Conspirators other recent work includes Brooklyn Underground: Theatrical stories from the Green-Wood Cemetery (performed in the chapel of the cemetery itself) and the Open Rehearsal Series.

The Brooklyn Lyceum is located at 227 4th Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11215 (R train to Union Street).
