TWEED Music Series Presents REMEMBER: THE SONGS OF HARRY NILSSON 10/12

HOWL! Arts Project and TWEED Music Series present REMEMBER: THE SONGS OF Harry Nilsson - a tribute to one of the latter 20th Century's greatest singer/songwriters -- on Wednesday, October 12 at 8:00pm at Theatre 80 (80 St. Marks Place) in Manhattan, as part of HOWL! ARTS
PROJECT 2011. Carol Lipnik curates the evening directed by Kevin Malony, with musical direction by Charly Roth.

Performers include Amy Allison, Brenda Bergman & The Bodacious TaTas, Michael Cavadias, Liza Colby, Claywoman, Flotilla DeBarge, Lee Feldman, opera star Lauren Flanigan, Flutterbox, Greta Gertler, Annie Golden, David Ilku, M Lamar, Lorraine Leckie, Little Annie, Carol Lipnik, The Major Toms, Mamie Minch, Aaron Morishita, Janine Nichols, Edgar Oliver, Poor Baby Bree, Jay Rogers and Body Collider Dance, Tish & Snooky, Russell Wolinski, and others, to be announced.

REMEMBER: THE SONGS OF Harry Nilsson features some of the
singer/songwriter's best-loved songs and hidden treasures from his
catalogue: "One," "Everybody's Talkin'," "Me and My Arrow," "Without
You," "Coconut," "I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City," "Don't
Forget Me," "Jump Into the Fire," "You're Breaking My Heart,"
"Freckles," "The Puppy Song," "Moonbeam," and more, including the
titular "Remember."

Brooklyn native Harry Nilsson (1941-1944) was arguably the most
respected singer, songwriter and record-maker of the '70s. His
prolific career spanned 30 years and included chart-topping songs,
blockbuster soundtracks, and a fistful of hit rock and folk singles.
He is best remembered for "Everybody's Talkin'," the theme song from
"Midnight Cowboy" (a song he didn't write!). He wrote the score for
the animated '70s pop parable "The Point," which included the hit
single "Me and My Arrow"; the widely covered Calypso number "Coconut";
and the soundtrack for Robert Altman's "Popeye." His music has been
heard everywhere from the movies "Goodfellas" and "Reservoir Dogs" to
TV's "The Muppet Show" and "Bones" to the Broadway musical EVERYDAY
RAPTURE. Nilsson won two Grammy Awards: Best Male Contemporary Vocal
for "Everybody's Talkin'" in 1969 and Best Male Pop Vocal for "Without
You" in 1972.

HOWL! ARTS PROJECT, a month-long series of non-stop music, film,
theater, performance art, burlesque and drag entertainment, was
conceived as a vehicle to benefit HELP (Howl! Emergency Life Project),
the newly established emergency assistance fund supporting East
Village artists of all disciplines, which also provides all services
offered by parent administrator: The Actors Fund. H.A.P. puts the
"hap" in "happening" with an electrifying series of ticketed events
taking place downtown October 1-31. In an ongoing effort to support
HELP, H.A.P. presents wildly diverse programming at affordable costs
to the whole family. Artists of all disciplines impart talent and
pleasure galore as they showcase developing and finished work in
traditional and experimental theatrical productions, gallery offerings
and more.
