THE GRAND TOUR: ASIA continues this week in the Asian Wing of The Metropolitan Museum. Details below!

THE GRAND TOUR: ASIA
Friday evenings, November 27, and December 4 and 11, from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m. (with occasional pauses)
The Florence and Herbert Irving Asian Wing
Free with Museum admission

Bringing "unexpected epiphanies" (New Yorker), the Met's Grand Tour, which sold out in previous years, is reinvented for its third season. This must-attend event is a passport to the cultural treasures of multiple countries, allowing "travelers" to experience intimate performances in multiple spaces, as they journey from gallery to gallery.

This season, we offer THE GRAND TOUR: ASIA, a wholly original exploration of performance art from India to China, with dance and musical performances throughout the Florence and Herbert Irving Asian Wing.

Moon Oak Joo-traditional Pansori vocalist-in the Arts of Korea Gallery (233)

Kaoru Watanabe-Japanese taiko drum and shinobue flutes-in the Arts of Japan (Gallery 227)

Friday, December 4:
Qian Yi-Chinese Kunqu opera vocalist-in the Astor Chinese Garden Court (Gallery 217)

Ralph Samuelson-shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) -in the Arts of Japan (Gallery 227)

Friday, December 11:
Gamelan Dharma Swara-Balinese gamelan ensemble-in the Astor Chinese Garden Court (Gallery 217)
