Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As With Your Favorite Broadway Stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!

In this next edition, we caught up with Max von Essen who is starring as 'Magaldi' in EVITA- currently playing at the Marquis Theatre!

What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?

My very first was Dreamgirls when I was a kid and was blown away. After Effie sang "And I'm Telling You..." I think I whispered to my mom 'That's what I wanna do.' She was probably somewhat confused.

What is your most unique pre-show ritual?

Well now that I have to be in a dance number, it takes me about 45 minutes to warm up my old bones. Having to dance is unique to me!

What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?

Oh god, how much time do you have? I've been left on stage when other actors have forgotten their entrances. I have been on stage in Les Miserables on nights that the barricades broke down. I have performed through blizzards for 40 people in a 1500 seat theater. I once sprained my ankle in the middle of the Xanadu finale and actually crawled off stage. I have even stopped in the middle of a song, due to illness, walked off stage, and then reentered after a few minutes and picked up right where I left off. LIVE THEATER, people! It's unpredictable and completely thrilling.

What is the one role you want to play before you die?

There are so many, but One Dream is to play 'Leo Frank' in Parade.

Who is your Broadway crush?

Elaine Stritch.
