January 13, 2006 Susan Sarandon To Be "Evil Queen" In Disney's 'Enchanted'

MovieMusicals.net and The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Susan Sarandon joins Amy Adams, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden in Disney's next animated/live-action project, 'Enchanted.'

Sarandon will reportedly play the evil "Queen Narissa" who banishes a princess (Adams) from their animated kingdom to present day (and live-action) New York City. Sarandon will play both the live-action and animated versions of the queen. Marsden plays the Prince Adams is in love with while Menzel plays Adams' best friend.

Kevin Lima ('Tarzan') directs the original screenplay by Bill Kelly ('Blast From The Past'). Barry Sonnenfeld and Barry Josephson are producing. Christopher Chase, Jill Morris, Sunil Perkash, and Jason Reed are executive producing. Six time Oscar winner and ten time nominee Rick Baker ('Star Wars,' 'Men In Black,' 'Planet of the Apes,' 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas') will reportedly do the makeup design.

The film will feature a score by Academy Award and Grammy-winning composer Alan Menken ('Beauty and the Beast,' 'Aladdin,' 'Pocahontas'), with additional lyrics by Glenn Slater.

'Enchanted' begins production this April for a 2007 release.
