Stephen Bogardus, Santino Fontana, Michael Urie Set for CHARLEY'S AUNT Reading, 12/12
The Acting Company will present a staged reading of CHARLEY'S AUNT on December 12. The event will take place at 7pm at the Mainstage Theatre. Written by Brandon Thomas, the reading will be directed by Ian Belknap, and feature the talents of Stephen Bogardus, Santino Fontana, and Michael Urie.
A comedic masterpiece of love, mistaken identity and men in skirts! Jack and Charley invite their girlfriends to Oxford—properly chaperoned, of course, by Charley's wealthy aunt. When the aunt’s arrival is delayed, Lord Fancourt Babberly is enlisted to masquerade in her stead.
Of course the real aunt finally arrives and it isn't long before misunderstandings spiral out of control. This rollicking farce opened at the Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England in 1892 and holds the record for 1,466 consecutive performances, the most of any play of any kind.
Founded in 1972 by legendary producer/director/actor John Houseman and current Producing Director Margot Harley with members of the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, The Acting Company has performed 136 productions for over 3 million people in 48 states and ten foreign countries.
