New York does the Holidays and Christmas exceptionally well, and much of it is rooted in decades of tradition. And it's magical. But it also begs the question: "What's new and exciting?"
The big news this holiday season is that Broadway is teaming up with The Shops at Columbus Circle - Manhattan's premier shopping destination-overlooking Central Park - for a five-week series of free public concerts and performances. No tickets or reservations are required to experience the magic of Broadway. More shows are likely to be announced, but to date the following Broadway sensations include (and are subject to change): November 14 - ParamourNovember 21 - Kinky Boots, Falsettos
November 28 - The Great Comet, Chicago
December 5 - Waitress
December 12 - School of Rock, Beautiful: The Carol King Musical Billed as "Broadway Under The Stars," the free public performances will be held on the 2nd floor mezzanine, while the conclusion of the Broadway series on December 12 will be held in The Shops at Columbus Circle's dazzling Great Room, under the annual holiday display of twelve massive stars. These stars are the largest specialty crafted exhibit of illuminated color display in the world - which hang from the 150-foot-high ceilings, with Central Park as the backdrop. It's the perfect scene-setter for the living stars from Broadway and Manhattan's coveted Theatre District.
