Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist William Finn and the award-winning cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee--Derrick Baskin, Deborah S. Craig, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Dan Fogler, Lisa Howard, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Jose Llana, Jay Reiss and Sarah Saltzberg--will appear at the Barnes & Noble Lincoln Square (1972 Broadway on the corner of 66th Street) on Wednesday, August 3 from 5:30 to 7 PM for a signing of the show's original cast recording on Ghostlight Records.  Also, the stars will perform songs from the show and "Why We Like Spelling," a number that is a bonus track on the CD but is not in the show.

The original cast recording of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was released on May 31 and was produced by Kurt Deutsch with frequent Ghostlight (a division of Sh-K-Boom Records) and Sh-k-Boom collaborator, Grammy-winner Joel Moss.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee boasts music and lyrics by Finn (Falsettos, A New Brain), and a Tony Award-winning book by Rachel Sheinkin.  Conceived by Rebecca Feldman and directed by James Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George, Falsettos), the show (which was nominated for a 2005 Best Musical Tony) has broken all house records at Circle in the Square Theatre (50th St., between Broadway and 8th) and fills the theatre in excess of 100% capacity (including standing room) each week.  In addition to Sheinkin, Fogler (who plays William Barfee) received a Tony Award for Featured Actor in a Musical.

In the show, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

The current performance schedule is (through September 4): Mondays at 8 PM; Tuesdays at 7pm; Wednesdays at 2PM & 8PM; Thursday and Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 2 PM & 8 PM.  Tickets, which range from $25 to $95, are available through Telecharge at 212-239-6200 (or at www.telecharge.com), or at the Circle in the Square box office.
