BROADWAY IDIOT is a documentary feature that follows Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong from a punk rock concert at Madison Square Garden to the opening of his musical American Idiot on Broadway, only ten blocks away but worlds apart. Directed by Doug Hamilton, the film gives viewers unprecedented access backstage during the Broadway production, inside the studio with Green Day and even at the Grammy Awards with the band and cast. The film tells the story of how Billie Joe Armstrong, a punk rock superstar ended up on the Broadway stage and how he was transformed by the world of theater.

Billie Joe Armstrong never imagined his work would end up on Broadway. When Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer suggested turning Green Day's mega-hit album into a staged musical, those involved knew that something strange yet wonderful was about to happen. This documentary captures the Curiosity and interest of music and theater fans, as American Idiot opened to rave reviews and became Broadway's most exciting new musical.

BROADWAY IDIOT premiered at the prestigious SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX on March 15, 2013. Rolling Stone said, "Packed with revealing and sentimental moments - the movie brings even more depth and meaning to the music from one of Green Day's most successful albums." The movie was chosen as the opening night film for the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 25, 2013.
