Shelterbelt Theatre Hosts Auditions For MY OCCASION OF SIN 12/13-14
The Shelterbelt Theatre will hold auditions for MY OCCASION OF SIN by Monica Bauer, at 7pm on Mon., December 13 and Tues., December 14th at the theatre, 3225 California St.
The drama is directed by Roxanne Wach and will run April 14-May 8, 2011. Actors will need to be available for a workshop with the playwright during a weekend in February.
(Rehearsals won't begin until March.) Seeking actresses for two roles:
•Helen (50's South Omaha Polish woman, devoted to her husband, St. Catherine's Catholic Church and a surrogate mother to one of her husband's accordion students.)
•Vivian (black, smart, funny and animated by a desire to "know what's what" in her North Omaha neighborhood. Serves as part-narrator/storyteller. The role contains adult language and consists of narrative monologues. Actresses should be approximately 18-21, but able to play 14.)
Set against the turbulent backdrop of the 1969 Omaha race riots, MY OCCASION OF SIN meets at the intersection of North and South Omaha, of polka and jazz, of black and white. Questions: Roxanne Wach, roxwach@aol.com. Monologues available to those auditioning for Vivian.
