OKLAHOMA!, CONSTITUTION And More Take Home 2019 Obie Awards  Image

Winners of the 64th Annual Obie Awards were announced this evening in a ceremony held at New York City's Terminal 5.

Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me, produced by New York Theatre Workshop, received the Obie Award for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize.

Artistic Director of New York Theatre Workshop, James C. Nicola, and Artistic Director and founder of Theatre For A New Audience, Jeffrey Horowitz received special Obie Awards for Lifetime Achievement.

Golden Globe winning "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" creator and star Rachel Bloom hosted this year's ceremony, which was held at Terminal 5 (610 West 56th Street). A complete list of the awards is listed below.

The evening's festivities, which were live-streamed on the official Obie Awards Twitter account www.twitter.com/ObieAwards, also included an opening number featuring Obies host Rachel Bloom.

In addition, special performances were given by two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone who surprised audiences in a special comedy bit alongside Rachel Bloom, Tony Award nominee Damon Daunno who performed "Oh What a Beautiful Mornin'" from the Tony Award nominated revival of Rogers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, Margo Seibert who performed "Both Sides Now" as part of the In Memoriam, and a special performance from STOMP, to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

The production team for the 2019 Obie Awards included Eric Cornell (Line Producer), E. Cameron Holsinger (Production Stage Manager), Mike Baldassari (Lighting Designer), Mike Tracey (Sound Designer), and Adam J. Thompson (Video Designer).

Music was provided by Adam Schlesinger and the "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" band.
