The Grove Theatre announces auditions for Savin' Up For Saturday Night*. Last year's hit honky-tonk musical comedy is back and headed to the Grove Theatre in Upland, October 22nd - November 21st!

Lovin' ain't easy in this one honky-tonk town, and when the bandleader and the bartender fall for the same dance-hall girl, you can bet all heckfire's bustin' loose! It's an evening of non-stop toe-tappers, cat fights, and love quadrangles.

Available roles:

DOC - Male, Lead, Baritone/Tenor to play late 30's early 40's. The Easygoing Bartender

LUCINDA - Female, Lead, Mezzo Soprano to play late 30's early 40's. Dance experience a plus. The Jilted Ex-Wife (and real star of the bar.)
Women auditioning for LUCINDA should learn a verse and chorus of one of the following:

ELDRIDGE - Male, Lead, Baritone/Tenor in the style of Jerry Lee, to play late 30's early 40's. Dance experience a plus. Country singer, and (local) legend in his own mind.

Men auditioning for ELDRIDGE or DOC should learn a verse and chorus of one of the following:

ENSEMBLE - Men & women, 18-55, all ethnicities, trained jazz/theatre dancers who can learn partner dancing (west coast swing, lindy, etc). Also seeking partner dancers (west coast swing, etc.) who can perform and learn Broadway/theatre style routines. Come with or without a partner. Some of the ensemble roles require singing. If you would like to be considered for a singing part, be prepared to sing a short section of any song, preferably country or country-rock, either accompanied (preferred - bring sheet music), or a capella.

All singing roles must be proficient in country / honky tonk style. Those that wish to audition for principle roles should prepare a short comedic monologue and one of the songs listed below.

Auditions will be held at two locations (only need to attend one):

UPLAND - At the Grove Theatre, 276 E. Ninth Street, Upland, on Saturday, August 7th. Auditions for main roles will be from 10am - 1pm. Anyone auditioning for the roles of LUCINDA or ELDRIDGE may be asked to stay later for the dance call. Auditions for the ensemble will begin with the dance call at 1:30pm. (www.grovetheatre.com)

LOS ANGELES - Auditions for all begin at 2pm on SUNDAY, August 8th at the Lake Street community center (227 N. Lake St., 90057). Be prepared to start with a dance call. Anyone auditioning ONLY for the role of DOC does not need to arrive until 5pm.
Callbacks for all roles will be BY INVITATION ONLY on Monday night, August 9th, at the Grove Theatre in Upland.

This is a non-union open call, pre-submissions not required. Please bring picture and resume to the audition. There is some pay.
