This was the closing week of Annie here at Flat Rock Playhouse. I've had a wonderful time getting to be in this production and working with the amazing Equity company. As Duffy, I was sad to say farewell to the little orphans as well. But all good things must come to an end.

After the final performance of Annie, the whole company got to FINALLY interact with Macy who played Sandy! In order to establish a close relationship with the dog, the only people who could pet Macy during the rehearsals and performances were Carly, our Annie, and Lara, who was our dog handler/Star-to-be. Naturally, as soon as the final curtain call ended, Macy was flooded with company members who wanted a hug or a photo op with the canine star.

With the production being sponsored by the Blue Ridge Humane Society, every show of Annie featured a different puppy that was up for adoption during the scene before "Tomorrow". For the final show, we had an adorable 2 months old puppy, who ended up being adopted by our very own head dresser, Mandy! Over the 3.5 weeks run of Annie, numerous puppies were adopted through the Humane Society by patrons who had attended the show!

As apprentices, one of our many duties is to take part in the strikes for each show. As part of the costume crew, my job for Annie strike was to clear the dressing rooms and sort the various types of costumes and wigs that were used in the production. Afterwards, I joined the electrics team and helped out with taking down the lights and cables from the theater. It was a tiring job but I had a blast being high up on the ladder and seeing how many lights were used in the production!

Over at the downtown stage, The Little Mermaid opened on Thursday! Emily, who plays Ariel, filmed some footage for my vlog during tech week for a special sneak peak of the Disney show. The Annie cast apprentices are super excited to get to finally go "under the sea" and see the show next week! Make sure to catch The Little Mermaid running in downtown Hendersonville until July 23rd.

We've had several exciting masterclasses this week for the apprentice company. But my favorite was the yoga class held by Sean Cooper, our Daddy Warbucks. Sean has led yoga classes a few times every week but he decided to host the final class on top of Big Glassy over at the Carl Sandburg Site! Getting to refresh and check in with my body while looking at a gorgeous view of the blue ridge mountains was such a treat!
