STICHING Opens in Malta this September

Stitching, produced by the Unifaun Theatre Production, opens at the Teatru Manoel September 14, 2018 and is set to close September 23, 2018.

The play, written by Anthony Neilson, focuses on Stu and Abby, the play's central characters, as they debate over whether to keep a baby that they are expecting. This disjoined narrative moves back and forth to reveal darkness, desperation, and vulnerability between the two characters. This play is a statement about the freedom of expression in the arts over censorship.

This is not the first time that they Unifaun Theatre Production has tried to produce Stitching on stage. In 2008 the Unifaun Theatre Production applied for a rating by the Malta's Board for Film and Stage and they had been denied from performing the play on stage, saying that the play was blasphemous, showed contempt for the victims of the Holocaust, portrayed dangerous sexual perversions and referred to the sexual assault of children. However this past May it was ruled that the play had been wrongly banned.
