The ONE NIGHT STAND contest has found its Grand Prize winner!

ONE NIGHT STAND co-director Elisabeth Sperling shares the incredibly exciting exclusive announcement with BroadwayWorld today, announcing the Grand Prize winner at last:

The judges of the One Night Stand Audition Contest are happy to announce the Grand Prize Winner: April Louise. Her winning entry is available to view here.

As the the Grand Prize Winner, April Louise will be joining the stars in "the most impossible theater event of the year," - The 24 Hour Musicals on April 13, 2015 (tickets will soon be available here).

April Louise taught gifted second-grade children in the Baton Rouge public schools for seven years, where she was elected Teacher of the Year just before deciding to pursue a career in the theater. When she was invited to audition at a community theater (The New Venture Theatre in Baton Rouge), she got the lead role in a musical. Since then, she has received four theatre award nominations and won three of them.

She recently began performing more in New Orleans with the Jefferson Performing Arts Society in BLUEBERRY HILL and AIN'T GOT NO HOME, focusing solely on New Orleans music. She is currently looking forward to performing as Nettie in THE COLOR PURPLE with the Anthony Bean Community Theatre. "In a field of ten very talented finalists, April Louise rose to the top of the list on the strength of her engaging personality and soulful singing voice. We are so excited to work with her on the next edition of The 24 Hour Musicals!" commented Tony-Award winner Ted Sperling (website here), one of the judges of the One Night Stand Audition Contest.

"I can't wait to meet April Louise, and to introduce her to the rest of The 24 Hour Musicals team. Her audition was so warm, funny and charming that you just want to hang out with her - even before you hear her voice," said Founding Director of The 24 Hour Plays Company Tina Fallon, also a judge in the contest.

The other three judges were Ari Edelson, Director of The Exchange, renowned theater director Moises Kaufman (33 Variations and Bengal Tiger), and Drama Desk Award-winning actor Mandy Gonzalez (In The Heights, Wicked).

The contest was an opportunity for aspiring actors across the country to share their talent, creativity and humor, and for their family, friends and fans to shower them with praise and encouragement. Participant Tom Schubert (website here) said that just going through the process was worthwhile, regardless of winning: "I had fun doing it. I never posted an audition out to friends and asked for votes. It was a breakthrough for me so thank you for being part of that happening."
