A brand new song for the contemporary-sounding musical-within-the-series, HIT LIST, on NBC's musical drama series SMASH has now been released, uncharacteristically penned by the erstwhile other shows-within-the-series composers - that is, the actual real-life magnificent musical masterminds behind BOMBSHELL and LIAISONS! - Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, with the tremendously moving and powerful "The Love I Meant To Say".

"Over, / I can't believe it's over" sings Jeremy Jordan (as Jimmy) in the spine-tingling new tune for the series. Many fans of the Broadway-themed series, which has seen dismal ratings and many time changes so far this season, surely can relate to the central sentiment!

"The Love I Meant To Say" is included in "The Phenomenon" episode, airing this Saturday.

The cryptic official synopsis of "The Phenomenon" episode is as follows: "An unexpected event bonds both BOMBSHELL and HIT LIST." Kyle (Andy Mientus)'s death, perhaps? Say it isn't so!

SMASH airs Saturdays at 8 PM on NBC. Be sure to tune in to find out the context of this stunning song - plus: a Radiohead cover, a Billy Joel tune and Bernadette Peters!
