Aquila Theatre will bring its exciting new stage adaptation of the beloved Jane Austen novel Sense and Sensibility to Queens Theatre. The play, adapted for the stage by Jessica Swale and directed by Desiree Sanchez, will run from October 20 to October 22. Returning to Queens Theatre after the witty and fast-paced Adventures of Sherlock Holmes they presented last season, Aquila Theatre brings Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility vividly to life.

After the untimely and unexpected death of their father, two sisters are forced to leave their comfortable lives. Their only hope is a profitable marriage. Seduction, courtship, love, heartbreak and surprise abound in this classic romantic comedy. Aquila Theatre expands the canon of classical works in this bold and exciting new production.

"The story of the Dashwood Sisters and their circuitous paths to love is that rare breed of classic romantic comedy that can still warm hearts and split sides, even 200 years after the novel was originally published. We are so excited to present Sense & Sensibility in the trademark Aquila Theatre fashion. With high energy and impeccable style, we'll explore this timeless story's many facets, vivid characters, and pockets of universal humor" said Desiree Sanchez, the director of the play. "At Queens Theatre, we believe that bringing new and innovative takes on classic stories to our stages is part of our mission. The reactions we received from our audiences after To Kill a Mockingbird two years ago and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes last season were overwhelmingly positive. Keeping up the momentum, we could not be more excited to present Aquila Theatre's inventive adaptation of Sense and Sensibility this October" said Taryn Sacramone, Executive Director at Queens Theatre.

Four performances of Sense and Sensibility are scheduled from October 20 to 22: Friday, October 20 at 2pm, Saturday, October 21 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday, October 22 at 3pm. Tickets range from $20 to $42 and are available at www.queenstheatre.org or at the Queens Theatre Box Office at 718.760.0064 (open Tuesday to Friday from 12pm to 6pm). Queens Theatre is located at 14 United Nations Avenue South, right in the middle of Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. Queens Theatre provides free parking and a free Shuttle Bus from the Mets-Willets Point subway station.

Queens Theatre is the premier performing arts venue in Queens. Queens Theatre's mission is to provide quality and diverse performing arts activities that are economically and geographically accessible to the 2.2 million residents of Queens, the most ethnically diverse county in the nation, and the surrounding metropolitan region. Aquila Theatre's mission is to make classical works accessible to the greatest number. A play becomes 'classical' because we recognize that after a time it transcends the original culture it was created for. It retains the power to provoke the central question of what it means to be human. As a company dedicated to the classics, we feel a responsibility to acknowledge and explore newfound classical works. Aquila was founded in London in 1991 by Peter Meineck. In 1997, Aquila became a US non-for-profit organization and is currently based in New York. http://www.aquilatheatre.com.
