Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) is proud to announce the New York premiere of Beyond Glory, written by and starring Stephen Lang, directed by Robert Falls, from the book by Larry Smith.

Beyond Glory will begin previews on Friday, May 25th and open officially on Thursday, June 21st, Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).  This is a limited engagement through August 19th, 2007.

Artistic Director Todd Haimes says:  "I am very happy that Stephen Lang is returning to Roundabout Theatre Company with this exquisite play that he stunningly performs.  I'm delighted that we are working on this project sooner than expected and able to welcome Director Robert Falls to the Roundabout family.  Originally scheduled for this production slot, The Home Place, by Brian Friel will be scheduled at a time when we can find the right cast for this great play."

The design team includes Tony Cisek (sets), David Woolard (costumes), Dan Covey (lights) Cecil Averett (sound), Robert Kessler (original music), John Boesche (projections).

In Stephen Lang's theatrical adaptation of Larry Smith's book, Beyond Glory: Medal of Honor Heroes in Their Own Words, Lang presents the stories of eight veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, rendering first hand accounts of the actions which resulted in each of them receiving the nation's highest military award, the Medal of Honor. Beyond Glory gathers these men together in the present to look back on the defining moments of their lives and to examine the meaning of courage, duty and, ultimately, humility.

In 2004, the world premiere of Beyond Glory was presented in Arlington, VA by Tribute Productions.  In April 2005, under a unique partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Defense, Beyond Glory toured international military installations, including the Persian Gulf.  It was also presented as special performance in the United States Senate.   From September 10th – October 9th, 2005, the production played a highly acclaimed limited engagement at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.

Stephen Lang was last on the Roundabout stage in 1992, playing the title character in Hamlet at the Criterion Center.
