The Toxic Avenger, winner of "Best New Off- Broadway Musical" by both the Outer Critics Circle and BroadwayWorld's Theatre Fans, may be headed to Broadway. The Joe DiPietro/David Bryan penned musical played New World Stages in 2009.

Although no official announcement has been made, a casting notice sent out refers to a Houston run followed by a Broadway opening, reading: "1st Broadway reh: Early March 2012. Broadway opening: End of March/early April 2012. Note: Same cast will be used for the pre-Broadway production (Alley Theater, Houston TX (LORT, $765/week minimum; Artistic Dir: Gregory Boyd); 1st Houston reh: 12/13/11. Houston run: 1/20 – 2/12/12)."

The Toxic Avenger, based on the 1985 classic cult film from Troma Studios, features music and lyrics by David Bryan (keyboardist and founding member of Bon Jovi), book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) and was directed at New World Stages by Tony Award winner John Rando.

The production team for The Toxic Avenger included: Beowolf Boritt (Scenic Design), David C. Woolard (Costume Design), Kenneth Posner (Lighting Design), Kurt Fischer (Sound Design), Mark Adam Rampmeyer (Hair & Make-Up Design), John Dods (Prosthetics & Special Effects Design), Rick Sordelet & David DeBesse (Fight Direction), Wendy Seyb (Choreographer), David Bryan & Chris Jahnke (Orchestrations) and Doug Katsaros (Music Director).

The auditions are set for September 13 and 14, with all roles available.
