Ratings Up for Tony Awards this Year!

Last night's official network ratings are in and the Tony Awards saw an overall increase in viewship of 9% from last year's ceremony.  The ceremony, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, posted year-to-year gains in adults 18-49. Airing opposite Game 6 of the NBA Finals on ABC, the Tony Awards were second in households (4.5/07), viewers (6.92m) and adults 25-54 (1.6/04) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (1.2/03, with NBC).

Compared to last year's event (on the same night last year), the ceremony was up +2% in households (from 4.4/08) and +9% in adults 18-49 (from 1.1/03) and was even in adults 25-54.

The Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement. The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television. The 2011 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing and were broadcast live on CBS from the Beacon Theatre.
