Radio City's CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST Event Kicks Off 8/14

MSG Entertainment (MSGE) announced today the official kick-off to the 2012 holiday season as the Radio City Christmas Spectacular celebrates "Christmas in August" in honor of 85 years of The Rockettes performing in New York City. On Tuesday, August 14 at 11am audiences will be treated to a look at The Rockettes' past, present and future with a costume retrospective showcasing memorable Rockettes styles through the years, all leading up to a high energy performance by the legendary New York dance company.

 

To kick off the event, Santa Claus, played by Charles Edward Hall, will make his yearly trip from the North Pole to his home away from home, Radio City, bringing a little arctic chill to the air in the heat of August. The Rockettes will showcase the unparalleled style and classic glamour that has made them part of the fabric of New York City for the past 85 years with a costume retrospective that showcases famed costume designs for The Rockettes from legendary designers such as Vincente Minnelli and Bob Mackie. The festivities will culminate with a Rockettes performance on 6^th Avenue as they take their signature precision dance technique to new levels by showcasing both their grace and athleticism. 

 

Additionally, Rockettes fans will have the opportunity to take part in the celebration of this unprecedented milestone year by sending their best wishes to The Rockettes at radiocitychristmas.com or through social media channels. In honor of this celebratory year, prior to the event, the celebration will take to the skies as New York City will be blanketed with aerial skywriting messages, commemorating the inspirational attributes of The Rockettes through the decades.
