Radiant Baby, the musical based on the life of pop artist Keith Haring, will be seen at CAP21's The Shop (18 West 18th Street) in a reworked version that will run from March 1st through 10th.

A fully staged developmental production of the show that was seen at the Public Theater in February of 2003, Radiant Baby will be directed and choreographed by Frank Ventura, CAP21's executive artistic director. Students from the CAP21 conservatory will be among those performing in the show.

Radiant Baby boasts music by Debra Barsha and lyrics by Stuart Ross, lyrics by Ross, Barsha and Ira Gasman and a book by Ross. The show "is a musical celebrating the life and work of Keith Haring, one of the most innovative pop artists of the 20th century. His signature style centered around the universal themes of birth, death, love, sex and war. In the tradition of pop culture, his provocative works were celebrated and sometimes criticized for being too commercial. Haring was determined to make his work accessible to the public and used it to generate activism and raise awareness about AIDS," according to press notes for the show, which was based on John Gruen's Keith Haring: The Authorized Biography.

The new production of Radiant Baby will include musical direction by Michael Hicks, script supervision by Stuart Ross and musical supervision by Barsha.

Performances will be Wednesday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets, which are $15, can be ordered by calling (866) 811-4111 or by visiting www.cap21.org.
