Rabe and Light Cast in MCC's Colder Than Here

Lily Rabe and Judith Light have been cast in The Manhattan Class Company's production of Colder Than Here, a new work by English playwright Laura Wade (Breathing Corpses). Directed by Abigail Morris (who helmed the show in London), the play will run in its American premiere at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St.) from September 7th to October 15th.

Light will play Myra, a terminally-ill housewife who turns her organizational skills from homekeeping to her own funeral arrangements. Rabe will portray Myra's daughter in Colder Than Here, with more casting to be announced later.

Rabe received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance as Annelle in Steel Magnolias (which recently announced its approaching closing date).
Her other credits include a workshop production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas directed by Joe Mantello at the Roundabout Theatre Company, White Jesus (as part of the Naked Angels' Democracy Project), Speaking Well of the Dead, Proof and The Crazy Girl, all at the Gloucester Stage Company. On film, she has appeared in Mona Lisa Smile and Never Again. A recent graduate of Northwestern University, she is the daughter of actress Jill Clayburgh and playwright David Rabe.

Light is best-known to TV viewers for her roles as Angela Bower on "Who's The Boss?" and as Karen Wolek on "One Life to Live" (for which she received two Emmy Awards as Best Actress). Her Broadway credits include Herzl and A Doll's House, and she has appeared off-Broadway in Sorrows and Rejoicings, Wit and Measure for Measure. She played Joanne in the LA Reprise! concert production of Company.

MCC's 2005-2006 season will also include a production of Glen Berger's The Wooden Breeks (directed by Tony Award-winner Gerry Hynes) and Jo Bonney's staging of Neil LaBute's new play, Swallowing Bicycles.
